Biography
"Bray was born in England in 1957; he studied and worked as an engineer in the aircraft industry, later leaving to study fine arts at Canterbury College of Art, followed by postgraduate studies in Sculpture with Prof John Gibbons and Pro Brian Neal at Winchester School of Art.
Since leaving college, He has exhibited and worked on commissioned work in London, New York, Boston,Cape Cod, New Orleans, Chicago, Los Angeles, Venice, Monaco and Cape Town."
Artist Comment
Bray is unique in today's art world in that he moves from one fine art discipline to another, using any media that suits the area of his interest with ease. He considers a chisel, a camera, a computer etc to be just the tools of an artist, no different from say a paint brush. It is this eclectic approach and powerful subject matter, that makes Bray's work so dynamic, exciting and totally unpredictable.
"It has always been my intention to produce work that engages the imagination and memories of the viewer to unlock emotions of life experience. I do this by producing work that is fragmented, but informed by a deeply personal agenda, gently optimistic and very much as an unflinching mirror to the world I see around me. Work that people can live with and can see something new within it everyday". Monaco Bray 2001.
